Building your website with Luciqo
Build a professional, SEO and GEO ready website from your business details, edit it, publish it on your own domain and add a blog that writes itself.
12 minPlan: Website, Starter and above
The Luciqo website builder creates a complete, professional website from your real business details: a home page, a page for each service and area you cover, About, Contact and a blog. Every page is set up for Google and for AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity. This tutorial takes you from a blank start to a live website on your own domain.
Before you start
- A plan that includes a website: the Website plan (one website), Starter or Growth (one), Pro (three) or an Agency plan (one per client brand). On the Free Snapshot, clicking Website takes you to Billing and usage to upgrade.
- Some tokens. Building a whole website uses 10, including the starter articles and their illustrations. See what each step costs.
- Ideally, your logo and a few good photos of your work, team or premises.
Open the website builder
- Log in to Luciqo.
- Click Website in the sidebar. The website builder opens, already signed in.
- You see Your websites. Click New website.
To come back to Luciqo at any time, click Back to Luciqo in the builder's sidebar.
Choose how to start
There are three ways to start:
- Type it in: answer a few simple questions about the business.
- From a current website: Luciqo reads the site and brings over the details, logo, photos and up to 40 blog articles for you to check.
- From a leaflet or flyer: upload photos or a PDF of the leaflet and Luciqo reads the details from it.
- Type the Business name.
- Under Where should we get the details from?, choose one of the three.
- If you chose a current website, type the Current website address and tick the box to confirm the business owns the text and images, or has permission to use them.
- Click Continue. Reading a website takes up to a minute.
Moving from an old website? Blog articles keep their old web addresses where possible, and old page addresses are redirected to the new pages, so you keep the links and Google rankings you've built up.
Step 1: Your business
This is the most important step. These facts are the only thing the AI will use, so check every one and remove anything out of date.
- Check Business name and What does the business do? Write it as you'd explain it to a new customer. The AI will polish the wording.
- Under Services, one per line, list each service. You can add a price, for example "End of tenancy cleaning – from £180". Each service gets its own page.
- Under Areas you want customers from, one per line, list the towns or areas you want to be found in. Each area gets its own page, which helps you appear in local searches and local AI answers.
- Fill in Main town or area served, Address, Phone and Email. Leave anything blank that doesn't apply.
- Click Save and continue.
Step 2: A few questions
These details make the website much more convincing: how you work, your team, key numbers such as years in business, recent work and clients you can name.
- Answer the questions that apply to you and leave the rest blank. The AI never guesses them, so a blank answer simply means that block isn't added.
- Click Save and continue.
Step 3: Logo and photos
- Tick I own these images or have permission to use them on this website.
- Under Logo, click Upload logo.
- Under Brand colour, pick one of the colours Luciqo found in your logo, or click Choose your own colour. It's used for buttons and highlights.
- Under Photos, upload your best photos. Luciqo looks at each one, writes a description for Google and screen readers, and puts the best one in the home page banner.
- Click Continue.
Step 4: Build
- Choose a Tone of voice: Friendly, Professional or Premium. Each shows an example sentence.
- Choose a Design style (colours and fonts, shown with your brand colour) and a Layout (how each page is arranged).
- Leave Add a blog with 3 starter articles (recommended) ticked if you want a blog.
- Under Images, choose AI illustrations (in your brand colour), My photos or No images.
- Click Build my website. It takes 1 to 3 minutes. Keep the page open.
When it's ready, the builder shows a preview of your new website. Nothing is public yet.
Edit your pages
- Click Edit the website in the sidebar.
- Click any block on the page to edit it. The panel on the right shows its text, images and buttons.
- Change the words directly. For help, click the ✨ on a text box: you get a suggestion that uses only your confirmed business details. Try Shorter, More detail, Friendlier or More professional, or type what you want, then click Use this. Suggestions are free.
- To rewrite a whole block, use Ask AI to change this block, for example "mention free quotes". Check the change, then Save or Undo.
- Choose a different Layout for the block, such as Image left, Image right, Two columns or Timeline.
- Use ↑ Up, ↓ Down, Duplicate or Delete to arrange the blocks. Click Add a block to add one, for example Reviews, Prices, Questions or Team.
- Under Page settings, check the Google title (up to 60 characters) and Google description (up to 155). These are what people see in search results.
- Click Save. If you make a mistake, use Undo and Redo.
To move to another page, use the page list at the top of the editor.
Change the design
- Click Design in the sidebar.
- Choose a Page layout, a Style (fonts, corners and starting colours) and your Main colour: from your logo, a ready-made colour, or any colour code from your brand guide.
- Adjust the Menu, Menu bar and footer colour, Background colour, Cards and panels and Button colour if you like. The preview of your home page updates as you go. Your words and images stay the same.
- Click Save design.
Add pages and edit the menu
- Click Pages and menu in the sidebar.
- To add a page, type a Page title, choose What kind of page? (Information, A service, Landing page, Prices or Questions) and add a sentence about what it should say.
- Click Create page with AI, or Create blank page to write it yourself for free. The page opens in the editor.
- Under Menu, rename items to keep them short, move them up or down, add pages or remove them. Removing an item from the menu doesn't delete the page. Click Save menu.
Fill your images
- Click Images in the sidebar to see every image space on the website.
- For each one, choose one of your photos, upload a new one, or create an AI illustration in your brand colour.
- To fill every empty space at once, click Fill all empty spaces.
AI illustrations never show text, logos or real people. Use your own photos for your team and your work.
Publish your website
- Click Publish in the sidebar.
- Under Free web address, choose the address for your website, using lowercase letters, numbers and dashes.
- Click Publish website. It's live straight away.
After that, a bar on every page tells you when you have changes that aren't live yet. Click Publish now to put them live, or use Save and publish in the editor. Every publish is saved under Versions, so you can put an earlier version back with one click. Take offline hides the website from visitors until you publish again.
Connect your own domain
- On the Publish page, find Your own domain.
- Type your domain, for example yourbusiness.co.uk, and click Connect domain.
- Luciqo shows the records to add: the Type, Name (Host) and Value (Points to). Click to copy each one.
- Log in where you bought the domain, such as Namecheap, GoDaddy or Cloudflare, open its DNS settings and add the records. Help for your domain provider shows where to find them.
- Back in Luciqo, click Check now. DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours. Luciqo keeps checking every hour and emails you when the domain is Connected.
Once connected, your free address forwards to your own domain automatically. Stuck? Email contact@luciqo.ai with your domain name and we'll help.
Show your website on Google
New websites are hidden from Google until you're ready.
- Check your pages, phone number and email are right.
- On the Publish page, switch on Show on Google.
- Optional: if you use Google Search Console, paste its HTML tag code under Google Search Console code (optional).
Your sitemap and robots file are created automatically, and Google can now find every page. It usually takes a few days to a few weeks for new pages to appear in search results.
Add a blog that writes itself
- Click Blog autopilot in the sidebar.
- Under Settings, tick the box so it says Autopilot is ON, then choose the days (up to five a week), the Time (UK), the Length and the Author shown on articles.
- Under When an article is written, choose Save as a draft for me to review or Publish straight away.
- Optionally, add a Direction for the writer, for example "write for busy families and landlords in Leeds".
- Click Save settings.
- Add topics to the queue, one per line, and click Add to the queue. If the queue is empty, the AI suggests 10 topics first, for free.
Each article answers the question first, uses question headings, a checklist and an FAQ, links to your own pages and gets an illustration. To write one straight away, click Write an article now. You can also write single articles from Blog in the sidebar with Write article.
Get more enquiries
Click Tools in the sidebar. Most changes here show on your live website straight away, without publishing.
- Email alerts: get an email whenever someone sends a message through the contact form. Messages are also kept under Messages in the sidebar.
- Auto-reply: send customers an automatic thank-you email.
- WhatsApp: show a WhatsApp button in the corner of every page.
- Reviews: show your star rating from Google, Trustpilot and others at the top of your home page, linking to the real reviews. Only show ratings that are real, up to date and your own.
- Social media: add your profiles to show their icons at the bottom of every page.
- Google Analytics: paste your GA4 Measurement ID (it starts with G-). Visitors are asked for permission first, as UK law requires.
